Using gloves collect 6 long stemmed nettles
Remove the leaves from the stems
Using a hammer (or a stone) and a hard surface bash the stems until they split open
Run a finger down the stem to remove the pith (the pith can be used to make paper later)
Split the stem along the natural seams to create long, thin lengths of stem
Allow the stems to dry out for at least 3 hours
Using a wire brush or a carding brush, separate the fibres from the stems. You should end up with a bundle of fibres
Use a spindle to spin the bundle of fibres into yarn
