Clean the olive pomace from any external materials such as stones or sand.
Step two
Grind the olive pomace into fine powder and sieve it. The ideal granule size is below 200 microns. You may want to go even lower depending on your application or nozzle size.
Step three
Put the olive pomace powder into a mixing bowl.
Step four
Put the sodium alginate into the mixing bowl and blend it well with the pomace.
Step five
Put the water into the mixing bowl and blend it well with the pomace and alginate mixture. This can also be done with a blender.
Step six
Put the mixture into the extruder container. In this project we used a DIY extruder mounted on a robotic arm. A 100 ml syringe was used as the container. You can develop your own 3D printing system or refer to ours (www.pomace.nl).
