Preparation of natural dye: This should be made before you start the bioplastic making.
Step three
Mix carrageenan iota powder and 400 ml of natural dye leftover in the glass jar, then shake it to break up any lumps. Place in the refrigerator overnight.
Step four
The next day, pour the carrageenan-natural dye mix into the saucepan and add the rest of natural dye (50 ml) to clean out the jar. Turn the stove on to a low heat and begin to stir.
Step five
After 6-8 minutes stirring, add glycerol into the saucepan and keep stirring it. Make sure all the lumps are broken up, stir until the mixture starts to become a nice homogenous mixture.
Step six
Pour the mixture into the mould and leave to set before moving.
Step seven
The drying time varies, so once the sheet is fully dry it can be peeled from the mould.
