Method


Step one

PREPARE EGGSHELL:

1. Boil eggshell to kill bacteria.

2. Dry eggshell (it can be naturally dried or using the oven)

3. Grind eggshell

4. Sieve eggshell to get a fine powder

Step two

GATHER INGREDIENTS: Eggshell 64% - Gelatine 9% - Water 27% (Percentages may vary depending on the precision of the scale)

Step three

MIX

1. Mix water and gelatin powder in a bowl. The water should be at room temperature (15° to 25° C)

2. Add eggshell and mix until a slimy and sandy-like paste is reached . The gelatin is dissolved in water until you reach a slimy and slightly viscous consistency (you can still see some grains of gelatin powder) then you add the eggshell powder to reach a thicker and sandy paste.

Note: Gelatin molecules break more easily when water is hot, thus drying faster, this is why we are using room temperature water so we have enough time before the whole mix dries.

Step four

3D PRINTING

1. Fill the syringe (nozzle 3.8 mm diameter) with the mixture. Avoid trapping of air.

2. Close syringe with the mechanical plunger and connect it to the compressed air.

3. Start printing (Speed 15 mm/s - Pressure 0.5 bar)

Step five

DRYING Let the piece dry at room temperature until a rigid piece is reached
