Method

Step one

Pour the tap water into the pot (stove off) and add the avocado pit and skins (cut into pieces if fresh, snap into pieces if dried). Bring to the boil and simmer for 20 minutes to create the dye. If the water evaporates, add a little to replace it. Strain and measure dye to ensure 400mil.

Step two

Pour the dye into the pot, add the stated amount of agar and use a wooden spoon to stir into the warm dyed stir until agar dissolved in the water.

Step three

Turn on the stove to a medium and when it gets to 98 degrees C, add the glycerine and stir quickly with the wooden spoon.

Step four

Take the avocado pip which is now softened from boiling it, and grate it using a fine grater. Add into the mixture and stir. The alternative is to add quickly on top of the bioplastic once poured, this will keep it on the surface and make it more matt.

Step five

Pour mixture into your mold, it will set within 5 minutes but leave it 24 hours before handling.
