Step one

Mix all ingredients in a pot (preferably a steel container). If the bioplastic is to be of any color, prepare this step in advance with colored water extracted from e.g. food waste or food coloring. In this example, the gradient sample is done with different amounts of violet food coloring gel. Stir until the ingredients are completely dissolved.

Step two

Let the bioplastic simmer at a low temperature (not boiling) for about 15 min. The bioplastic should become thicker in consistency.

Step three

Pour the bioplastic into an extruder container of choice, in this example, a dosing syringe (60 ml) has been used.

Step four

Let the bioplastic cool and solidify in the dosing syringe, about 20-30 min depending on the size of the dosing syringe.

Step five

Let the bioplastic cool and solidify in the dosing syringe, about 20-30 min depending on the size of the container.

Step six

Extrude the bioplastic with the dosing syringe on a flat surface, preferably something similar to a plexiglass or wax-coated table cloth. Let it dry completely.

Step seven

When the bioplastic is dry it is possible to connect the ends of the yarns by pressing and rolling them together.

Step eight

The sample is loosely crocheted with a 15 mm hook.
