Genus: Pinus

Obtained from the bark of Pinus species.  Resins are often mixtures of organic compounds, principally terpenes. Many plants, particularly woody plants, produce resin in response to injury. The resin acts like a botanical bandage protecting the plant from invasion by insects or pathogens.
